I do not like the term Chef d’orchestra or Musical Director, as it suggests that that person knows everything better than the other musicians. I have the great fortune to have so many different skills and talents amongst my musicians.
It is a privilege t share the stage with with all those people around me.
Being with the band for so long, I have the chance to know all of them with all of their strengths and possibilities so that I can make use of this to make the best ob the potential that lies in this wild bunch.
Therefore, I would prefer the term musical coordinator.
I also have the task to find a musical program that is attractive for our public while also feeding the musical monsters that we are with enough of that ‘jazz’.
